Instead of the usual Sunday morning ritual which typically includes a beach run followed by coffee and a trip to the farmers market, D and I stayed in. Last week seemed to fly in and out– the kind of busy where you feel like you barely have enough time to breath. And this weekend, my one and only craving was to indulge in a little quiet time. On Sunday, we made coffee at home and I was finally able to satisfy my baking impulse with these blueberry peach teacakes.
These teacakes are made with a blend of gluten free flours, demerara sugar, and a little yogurt to keep the texture moist. Once the batter was thoroughly mixed, I folded in fresh diced peaches and whole blueberries. The fresh fruit is what really makes these teacakes delicious — no butter or jam necessary.
- Blueberry Peach Teacakes
- 1/3 cup almond flour
1/3 cup teff flour
1/3 cup brown rice flour
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
6 tbsp butter
1/2 cup of demerara sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
dash of freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp kosher salt
2 eggs
1/4 cup plain or vanilla flavored yogurt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup freshly diced peaches
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
Preheat oven to 350.
Combine dry ingredients, except the sugar, in a bowl — the flours, baking powder and soda, salt, and nutmeg. In a stand mixer beat butter and sugar together until light and creamy. Add one egg at a time beating the first one before adding the next. Add yogurt and vanilla and mix. Add the flour mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in the fruit.
Fill muffin cups 2/3 full and bake for about 20 minutes. Makes about 8 muffins or cakes.

Hi Soma!
It’s so nice to hear from you. And for reminding me that I’ve missed my 2 year mark! I know it’s been awhile since my last post, I just got so swamped. I was actually putting a short post together this weekend for posting this week. You are so sweet to remember this. I hope you are well too and I cannot wait to take a peek at your latest and greatest creations.
Take Care! Lisa
Sounds like a perfect and delicious Sunday morning!
I like your new header.

these cute pretty cakes would be just perfect with a hot pot of coffee!! ye pics made me crave for it right now
I swear your blog is going to make me gain back all the pounds I’ve been working off! I’ve actually never thought of adding yogurt to my baking but that seems to be a very handy tip. Do you prefer the plain or vanilla?
I will definitely check out the Academy of Sciences if I am ever in SF, I’m such a Socal Girl I’ve never traveled past Paso Robles. I’m ashamed.
I can definitely identify with needing down time on the weekends. Your little cakes would be perfect on the deck with a cup of coffee. And your photos are sublime.
well bella, as you know I love breakfasts and I wouldn’t mind to change my toast for some gluten free(!!) blueberry peach teacakes. They look gorgeous, moist and fluffy as a good teacake should look.
And yes, I also agree with you, sometimes we just need to slow down our pace. Specially on weekends. Specially with the help of teacakes.
I am definitely visiting your blog more often; your pictures are just too good to pass up! And I am definitely jealous of your food skills, I just wish I had more time to hone mine.
so gorgeous! your teacakes look wonderful for a lovely breakfast or afternoon tea!

These little cakes look delightful, dear Lisa!!
I want to make them soon,…YumYum Yum,..I also love your teff, brown rice & almond flour combo in here!
so pretty….can I have one?
I love this double the pleasure, blueberries + peaches, What a wonderful combination and just so darn tasty. I really need to get in the habit of baking more. Not that I need an excuse except all your goodies are calling my name. If we lived closer together, I’d swap you some jam for the teacakes. =)
Sounds like a great swap — if I were in SF I would hold you to it. =)
As with all your recipes, this looks fantastic. I admire your photographic skills as much as your baking skills!
Blueberries and peaches are so good together, and your little cakes look fantastic! Great to see demerara sugar in the ingredient list too!
I think any berry combined with peaches is the perfect summer combination!
Your photos are so lovely. I think if they would have been loaded with chocolate they still would have looked appealing to me and I don’t like chocolate!

how could you ever pass up a run on the beach for some fruity and fluffy teacakes? (yeah, that was sarcasm…) go-go-gluten free!
I think I’d like to wake up to these as well. They look yummy! Great photos!
they look dreamy, creamy and delicious! i love summer fruit in cake shape
Dreamy looking photos. Looks like a perfect way to wake up. I wish I could indulge in these EVERY morning.
Lisa another one bookmarked for me
just made the crisp. I have nectarine and blueberry and I am itching to make these. Summer is sinful and seems like I will make my family survive on desserts. What a wonderful recipe.
I’m so glad you liked the crisp! Summer is so great for fresh fruit desserts. I hope you like these as well.
These teacakes and the photos of the above look so refined and esthetically beautiful! Always in awe of your talent Lisa.
Lovely and unique combo Lisa! It sounds so good and look so pretty:)
These are precious, Lisa! I love peaches and raspberries together, now I have got to try them with blueberries, too.
I love the natural, colorful beauty of the fruits you have captured with these pictures and how it is reflected in the simplicity of the teacakes. You have definitely made me want a quiet, lazy Sunday morning this next weekend.
Thanks for visiting Christy!
This sounds like a lovely teacake. I could easily eat a couple of these with a cup of tea. I’m bookmarking this recipe.
I have to say, it would be terribly difficult for me to forgo w beach run and farmers market trip, but if these precious little teacakes were to take the place I couldnt agree with you more! They are picture perfect and sound so yummy!!
What a heavenly combination! Those teacakes look exquisite.
Cheers,
Rosa
Love these pics. There is a bakery in Burbank that makes really good, simple, iced teacakes. Very Southern. These are definitely a much more sophisticated take on the old fashioned cakes, and they look great.
Mmm, the traditional iced teacakes sound amazing. You will have to fill me in on the bakery in Burbank!
These look lovely and delicious! Peaches and blueberries are two of my favorite fruit. I can imagine how good they taste together!
