About Lisa

August 11, 2008

My fondness for sweets began with a 1960 – something hand-me-down Easy Bake Oven and a ton of curiosity. It was a vintage aqua blue Kenner original complete with a variety of baking necessities. I was fascinated with the miniature pans and cake mixes, and even more thrilled, to peek inside the sliding metal tray to find a perfectly baked cake.

The oven was my introduction to food and also marks the beginning of many creative pursuits, food and non-food related, to follow. Although my sweet tooth refuses to cease, I try to use whole organic ingredients in baking and cooking, as much as possible.

My experiences in cake making, catering, working briefly in a pastry kitchen, and rustling around my own kitchen have resulted in many weekends and late nights filled with baking, cooking, and lots of recipe experimentation.

Originally from San Francisco and currently in Los Angeles, I work as a graphic/website designer, practice photography, and dance. When I’m not working or in the dance studio, you can be sure to find me in my kitchen with my camera.

The concept of food, to me — like dance, design, and photography is about creativity, self-expression, and communication.
